Ammo

for yer gun.

Chop off their hands! String em up! Public floggings!

Shows you just how far we haven’t come since the days of corporal and capital punishment.

It never did me any harm!

Really? Seems you call for violence as a solution to societies ills. Probably think Clint Rickards is a decent bloke too huh?

Funny, I can never remember after being given the belt/cane thinking that I would never do whatever got me in trouble again. It just made me resentful and angry. The thought of someone being remorseful after being hit is insane, usually the one doing the hitting feels the remorse.

Posting these to agitate as much as anything else.

What’s at 136 Ponsonby Rd? A basket shop if I remember rightly, but so what? This sticker’s on the opposite side of the road to 136. Dim, what are you trying to tell me?

neeeeeeews.

Streerarse in the news here.

Also some good interviews from Askew and Repo on National Radio, get the podcasts.

“Is Graffiti Art” with Askew. Interviewed by Noelle McCarthy, former Bfm breakfast staffer.

“Graffiti” with Repo and Askew.

And an article covering a couple of things from the Waikato.

In it they talk to Eric Orr about tagging as he tours the country with his workshop for young fellas. Anyone who’s meet Eric will tell you how nice a guy he is and you can’t really question his credentials on a topic like graffiti. Sure he may not have been an active writer for some time but he was there when it popped off. He got down with everyone including Harring and Basquiat, and when he says things like

“Tagging is nothing more than defacement. People who tag have no respect. Me and my friends would never deface anything. Hopefully these kids are getting that message.”

and

“You give yourself some boundaries. The kids here don’t know how short-lived tagging was in New York City. They have never been taught the difference between tagging and graffiti.”

then you have to at least listen. And it’s true. Kids need schooling.

He’s talked to me about how back in the day they were out to IMPROVE their hood, to make it better and to straight wreck it is disrespecting your community.

In the same article we get something from Nandor, who will sadly be leaving politics and the Green party (he’s leaving to get the freedom to voice more radical ideas than being an MP allows). But had this to say on the governments proposed bill,

“The political race to demonise New Zealand youth this election year has reached a new low”

“This isn’t really about spray cans. It’s attack politics aimed at young people in general. They have no vote, little voice and are an easy target.”

And with this I thoroughly agree. It’s Labour reacting to Nationals identification of “youth crime” as one of the highly emotive cards to play in election year. Labour is worried they’re onto something and need to position themselves to be seen to take it as seriously as the Nats do. Last year it was boy racers, this year taggers. Normally i’d say this topic would be dead in the media within two more weeks, this being election year however……

this and that

Queen St paste ups, these are from last year, saw a few around here and there and then saw them at the Elam end of year show. Was a series of people in togs. Looks at home on brick walls but a bit weird inside on white ones.

This has been there for a couple of years now, only just got a photo though. Yeah it’s not really a record buyers record store anymore, it’s no Slowboat Records thats for sure. Still managed to drop $150 there easy enough though.
