COMMON GROUND

This month The New Dowse in Lower Hutt will be hosting the Common Ground exhibition. A collaborative exercise between NZ’s Cut Collective and Germany’s ViaGrafik.

The show features work exploring ideas stemming from each collectives experience of working within a range of mediums and environments, and how the site of the street can inform and inspire creativity.

Opening on Friday the 13th with live painting, Olmecha Supreme Soundsystem, SecretLevel DJ’s, King Homeboy the NZ beatbox champ, and laser tag (tagging with lasers as opposed to chasing people with laser guns). All are welcome.

Also as part of the exhibition is a panel discussion based around the role of graffiti and street art.

Keep the Wall Grey and the Mind Will Follow…

Artist/curator Jo Randerson chairs this panel discussion on the role and status of street art. Is street art a display of cutting-edge urban creativity or reckless vandalism?
