Public Access 4
Cut Collective has been working away on a new exhibition. The latest in the series of exhibitions titled ‘Public Access’. The first Public Access was held in Napier in January of 2007. For this, the 4th we are kindly being hosted by the Auckland Art Gallery (who are covering the install on their blog here).
Public Access essentially deals with the artists navigation of displaying art work within public and private spaces, removing boundaries around art viewing and looking at the role the gallery plays in the display of art. Our artistic backgrounds all have a common thread of street art and graffiti and this continues to inform our practice and influence our approach to art-making.
The show is open from the 20th of Feb and runs through to March 11th. CC members will be on-site most days during this time to continue to develop the works and we encourage you all to come down and check it out. The work is both inside and outside the space – hence the opening hours stated below.
Tiger Translate 2010
Tiger Translate – back for 2010
We are over the moon to announce that Tiger Translate - the NZ-developed, internationally-acclaimed art and music mash-up - is heading back to Auckland on March 20, 2010.
The next event takes place in a secret pop-up location featuring a maze of gallery spaces spread over three floors, and it’s going to be better and bigger than ever before.
To celebrate the return of Tiger Translate 2010, join us for cold delicious Tiger beer at Qubic Store in Newmarket on 28 January 2010 where location, line-up and art competition details will be revealed. Details are below:
WHERE: Qubic Store, 154-160 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland
WHEN: Thursday 28 January 2010, 6.00pm – 9.00pm

Launched in New Zealand four years ago, the Tiger Translate concept fuses East and West, art and music. It has since gone global with similar events in New York, Copenhagen, Beijing, Bangkok and Berlin.
Tiger Translate ‘10 is the fifth event of its kind held in Auckland. The first was at the Transmission Room in 2005 and the second at Britomart’s Pavilion in 2006, the third at a basement in Nuffield Street in 2007 and the fourth at Fu and Zen in 2008.
